This is a fab walk for pre-high school kids of about 4 miles (but see note in Waypoint 10). Plumpton Rocks (open March to Oct) has admission charges (Adults £3.50 Kids £2.50) but it's a wonderful, wooded, watered, rocky area that younger children will love exploring. Spofforth Castle is free to explore. Hourly 770 Leeds-Wetherby-Harrogate bus Mon-Sat (2 hourly Sundays) to Follifoot/Spofforth.

This was our first Car Free Walk, and I was suprised at how much of it was long busy roads. Not exactly peaceful, but it was fun to explore somewhere new. I would not want to take children younger than 10, however.
