To get to the start of this section at Reigate Station from London you can take trains from Clapham Junction or East Croydon. As the North Downs Way gets closer to London the density of main roads rises alarmingly. We were surprised to find that, although on this stage there is almost always a background hum of traffic the walk along the Downs can be surprisingly solitary.
