High Bentham is on the Leeds-Morecambe rail line, return trains to the Leeds end from Giggleswick or Settle. In 2015 Stagecoach No80 bus service between Lancaster and Ingleton serves Bentham. Walk has sections across unwaymarked and unpathed moors in places so please take note of this. Three trig 'tigs' for those so afflicted with trigpointing.

The walk is nominally about 18 1/5 miles but the traverse of Burn Moor along an un-pathed route will require a bit of wandering to avoid boggy sections so it's more like 20 miles.
