St David's is about as far west as you can get in Wales. And if you make it this far, you will have earned the wonderful walking on offer. This walk starts and finishes in the city (Britain's smallest!), which has good bus connections to the surrounding towns.

Take the bus to St David's - if you are planning a longer stay, www.stdavids.co.uk has lots of useful information. From the city (a status granted by the Queen as it has a cathedral), head along the road to Rhosson.

There is a small chapel just near the coastline, called St Justinian. He was a monk who went to live as a hermit on Ramsey Island, just across the water. He went there because the St David's weren't holy enough. So they beheaded him. Lesson learnt, no doubt.

The most westerly point of the Welsh mainland! The few rocks in the sea - called The Bitches - were left when St Justinian hacked away a land bridge to stop the monks from St David's coming across to his island. They must have really upset him...these days its popular with very brave kayakers.

The sandy beach at Caerfai Beach highlights the end of the coastal walk. If time allows, head down and dip your weary feet in the sea.
