A circular, stroll-(1-2-hours) city/town walk in England starting at Chester, Chester and West Cheshire, about 4km (roughly 2 miles) long and
.
Chester is a picturesque city, and the locals say the best way to see it is from the city wall that circles it. It's one of the best preserved walls in Britain, and the two-mile circuit along the top makes for a great afternoon. You don't need an OS map; instead pick up a walking guide from the Tourist Information Centre.

Waypoints
If you arrive by train, catch a bus into town or walk along Hoole Way into the city centre.
Start the city wall walk at Eastgate, with its famous clock - said to be the most photographed in Britain after Big Ben. How they can rpove this I don't know, but it is nice.
The southern side of the wall sits above the River Dee.
The start of the western side of the wall overlooks Roodee Racecourse.
Head north along the wall, past the reacecourse, for some more great views over the Shropshire Union canal.
Near the Northgate is a bookshop actually built into the wall - not a bad place to work! It's called Gildas Books, and well worth half an hour's browsing.
Just beyond Northgate is the King Charles Tower, from where the poor chap watched his army being defeated on Rowton Moor.
The final stretch, along the eastern side, overlooks the grounds of Chester Cathedral.
Finish by dropping into the city itself for a wander around the streets.
