Another one for the families out there, with a castle (the only one in North Wales with a water-filled moat, because it is built on lowland), a restored magistrates' court with audio-visual guides, a jail (reduced admission if you buy tickets to both magistrates' court and jail), a pier, and boat rides up the Menai Straight and around Puffin Island, with views of Snowdonia. Beaumaris means 'beautiful marsh'.

Well worth a visit, with an audio-visual guide, wax dummies illustrating the court's layout - judge, jury and plaintiff. There is a public area, with access to the jury room and judge's private area. Reduced admission to the jail if you buy a ticket to both.
Jail About 0.26 km (~0.16 miles) from

Not far from the court, with illustrations of how primitive conditions were. A treadmill for if you didn't keep stepping, you disappeared into the pit below where you were crushed to death! A corrider, where you were led to the gallows to be hanged! Great for childrens' imaginations...
Pier About 0.52 km (~0.32 miles) from

Boat rides up Menai Straights and around Puffin Island, as well as fishing trips. Walk back from here into town.
