This walk encircles the head of the Vale of Edale, mostly keeping to the higher ground above Barber Booth and Upper Booth. On a clear day, navigation is easy, as you can see the route unfolding ahead of you. After a steep ascent, the stroll along Rushup Edge is easy and pleasant. The path to Brown Knoll tends to be very muddy, so take care not to sink up to the ankles in mud! On a foggy day, use of a compass for this section of the walk is necessary. Once on Kinder, the mud is behind you and there are landmarks to help you find your way. A steep descent brings you back into the village.
