Quick hour walking about on Coombe Hill
A circular, stroll-(1-2-hours) low hills and fells (below 600m) walk in England starting at Wendover Train Station, Bucks, about 5km (roughly 3 miles) long and suitable for families with children, but unsuitable for prams/pushchairs, wheelchairs.
As it says, a very popular walk with locals around National Trust land, with fabulous views across the Chilterns and strong advice to take a cheap kite (always great kite flying weather)Start: Wendover Train Station, OS Grid: SP866078 Elevation Profile (x: waypoint number, y: metres)
Gain (+/- 10%): 124m (408ft)
Total (+/- 10%): 128m (419ft)
Loss (+/- 10%): 3m (11ft)
Max. Elevation: 260m (853ft)
From train station, walk to High Street, maybe stock up on caffeine/sugar at the quaint chocolaterie. Look up the hill, and off you go.
Go left off the road, at the fork on the path, take the left path toward the stile (mountain bikes will go the other way).
Good moment to take a first look at the Chiltern landscape to your right. You can see a church steeple straight ahead. If it happens to be a bank holiday and you happen to have a car, you can drive to Ellesborough Church, climb the tower for 50p and look back at Coombe Hill.
Unless you want to head down in Princes Risborough (another hour or so), you want to go left here, then left at the car park to get back to the path back to Wendover.
Back to Wendover for the train or bus home.
