A short walk to a well known landmark - Glastonbury Tor. The conical hill, with its distinctive tower on the summit, is a landmark seen from many miles around. This route takes the well-trodden route from the town to the top, then ambles back through the countryside. Glastonbury Tor is an important place for many people, and rich in the legends of Avalon. Its legends are well documented elsewhere online; try http://glastonburytor.org.uk/makermyths.html for a good overview. Even if you aren't bothered by all that, the views from the top make this one of Somerset's best walks.

Great Walk

A great walk. The section between 7 and 8 is a bit hard to follow at the moment. There is a missing style where you now need to climb over a hedge (there is a useful tree) and the path is a little bit overgrown and hard to figure out in one place. Made it more interesting for me but might be tricky with young children. Great walk.
