We support

In setting up Car Free Walks, our motivation was to try and promote the idea that people can enjoy the countryside in a responsible manner. It's not rocket science - we just want to help people look after this lovely land that we all share.

Sometimes we hear about a particular individual or group who are also trying to do something positive to protect the environment and we want to help. So we list them here in the hope that you might take an interest in their campaigns and take a few minutes to look and offer your support. Please do.

So much to explore!
  • Save the Snowdonia Sherpa Bus Service - Walkers need to take action to protect the vital bus link around the mountains of North Wales. Email the Welsh Transport Minister (ieuan.wynjones@wales.gov.uk) to voice your concern at the withdrawal of funding.
  • World Carfree Network - brings together organisations and individuals dedicated to promoting alternatives to car dependence and automobile-based planning at the international level whilst working to reduce the human impact on the natural environment and improving the quality of life for all. By joining us as a member, you will help to promote carfree thinking.
  • Airplot! - Become a beneficial owner of a piece of land slap bang in the middle of the proposed third runway site at Heathrow! Greenpeace are campaigning to stop the runway being built and they need your help.
  • Campaign to save Swallow's Woods - This site has been set up to provide the public with information on the issues surrounding the proposed A57/A628 Mottram/Tintwistle bypass.
  • Save our Stones - A campaign to increase usability of The Stones River Crossing at Burley-in Wharfedale. Restoration of the stones will aid car free walking in the area - so get behind it!
  • Hastings Alliance - One of the most tranquil areas in the South East, Combe Haven Valley, is threatened by the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road (BHLR). The Hastings Alliance, a group representing the views of several national and local organisations as well as concerned individuals, is opposed to the construction of the Bexhill-Hastings Link Road.
  • We would gladly hear about any other campaigns or organisations with a similar focus that we could mention here. Please drop us a line with your suggestions.
