Car Free Walks Newsletter 10

A new year, a new format for our ever-popular seasonally-themed quarterly newsletter

February 2013 -

As always, we offer a winter-tinged whistlestop tour of the latest happenings in our Car Free walking world.

On the blog

We've posted five tips for getting the most out of car-free walking in 2013 and shared a New Year's walk gone wrong in Suffolk.

Walk here ... the ‘other’ Whernside
On the eastern boundary of the Yorkshire Dales lies Greater Whernside. Is it greater than its flashy ‘Three Peaks’ cousin? Judge for yourself with this walk from Grassington.

Prize draw
For our January to March 2013 prize draw, we are giving away four Car Free Walks fleece hats, provided by El Alto. Warm as toast, functional as a spoon, stylish as a Parisian catwalk. To enter, simply submit a walk to our database before the end of March. Congratulations to the winners of the last prize draw; your TGO subscription is being organised now.

Railway walks in the southwest
The South West Coast Path has launched a series of railway walks in Devon, Dorset and Cornwall. These walks combine some of the most scenic train journeys in the South West with a short walk along the Coast Path, taking in popular seaside destinations along the way.

Are you in a car-free walking group, or do you know a collection of walking routes? Let us know and we will give you a plug in a future newsletter.

Networking socially
Our North Wales correspondent, Pete Roberts, has sent us two great pics of Snowdon. You can admire these on our Facebook page. If you want to know when a new walk is online, follow us on Twitter or ‘like’ our Facebook page.
