This walk explores two castles in the picturesque setting of the Darent Valley in Kent. Both are worth visiting if you have time to spend on this walk. In between, you pass through the countryside around the River Darent, which is wonderfully peaceful considering the proximity to London and the M25. I first tried this walk after reading about it in Christopher Somerville's 'Walks in the country near London'. Well worth getting hold of a copy if you can.
