Joined Bangor and Bethesda Ramblers for this walk, very lucky again, the weather held until the end of the walk at a cafe by the bus stop in Beaumaris. The walk covers tarmac lanes, roads, grass paths, fields, woods, lakes and streams, with panoramic views of Snowdonia and the North Wales coast. You might see geese, lambs, horses and wild birds. Why not book an overnight stay and the next day take in the castle (the only one in North Wales with a water-filled moat), the restored magistrates court (with an audio/visual guide) and the old jail, which is open to the public and has plenty of history: you can see where people were hanged! See my other walk "Beaumaris".

This being a winter walk, the leader advised us away from the path on the left, which would pass small lakes and would be impassable (but OK in dry summer weather). Bear right, then left after the cottage through fields to waypoint 12.

Worth visiting the parish church of Beaumaris. I believe the interior is superlative (check opening times). There's also an attractive square of small shops, a pier for boat trips around Puffin Island, visitors to the beach, etc. I hope you enjoyed it. Buses in both directions.

Horses

Ah but horses get moved around from time to time; best not to use them as a navigational reference!

Menai Bridge Beaumaris

On advice to book overnight to see castle in brackets only one in N. Wales with A WATER FILLED moat WATER FILLED is important as there are others with DRY moats. Waypoint 9 pass HORSES IN fields on right.
