At 18 miles, walking the whole of Chesil Beach would make for a long day out. This walk, which starts at the village of Langton Herring, is a more managable length for a day walk. The route follows the South West Coast path and gives you great views of the famous pebble beach from across the Fleet Lagoon. It's also possible to get onto the beach from the end of the walk, just south of Weymouth.

This beach, part of Dorset's Jurassic Coast, is a dramatic place to sit and watch the waves come crashing in. It's much safer to stay at the top of the ridge - the waves can be unexpectedly large! It's not safe to swim here either.
