This route takes you through some wonderful West Highland scenery. Starting at Kinlochmore (on the bus routes heading north to Fort William), you wander beneath the Mamores and past Loch Eilde Mor to Meannanach, on the watershed between the Abhainn Rath and the Water of Nevis. You then continue to Loch Treig before heading out to Corrour for the train back. Despite the lack of ascent, it is a challenging walk best enjoyed over two days with a night at Meannanach. It would be possible to complete in one long day, but the transport connections mean two are better. You won't regret it.

Take the bus to Kinlochmore, which merges with Kinlochleven. Next to the church on the eastern side of town is a path heading out to Loch Eilde Mor. Go through the woods and past Meall an Doire Dharaich.

Once you reach the loch, navigation is easy - walk forwards with the loch on your right.

Continue on to this smaller loch and continue through the mountain pass.

Find a suitable crossing place on the river and head to Meannanach bothy. It's a great place to stay if you are doing the route over two days.

Continue east along the river bank - it's wet, be warned - until you reach the stepping stones. Cross to the southern side.

One of my favourite lochs - squished in between the Easains and Stob Coire Sgriordain.

Follow the track along the southern shore to the railway line.

Where the track heads under the railway, take the footpath that continues alongside the railway track, rather than the landrover track. It's quicker and more interesting.

A boggy path, with some old fences posts trying but failing to make the path easier, will take you to Corrour Station, where you can relax in the plush new bar/cafe while you wait for your train.
