We are always happy to support other projects and ventures founded on the same environmental principles as our own. With this in mind, we are pleased to invite David Woods, director and owner of carbonfreeholidays.com, to explain a bit more about his fantastic new website.
"The world has changed over recent months and I think we all can agree that the way we travel has to change too. Not only are we fighting a pandemic, but climate change has now become a priority and the clock is ticking.
If, like me, you love the UK, then I have some good news: it’s never been a better time to discover the countryside, the coastline and our national parks. This is why carbonfreeholidays.com was born. Our goal is to help you have the most amazing holiday here in the UK while reducing your carbon footprint.
So here’s the good news
Here in the UK you’re never more than an hour by public transport away from a holiday destination. The north of England has the Lake District, the Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales, all of which can easily be reached by rail. The south of England has the Cotswolds, New Forest, Dartmoor, Exmoor and the South Downs National Park, as well as the Kent Downs. carbonfreeholidays.com features many properties that can be rented in these locations with a multitude of activities and things to do.
Wales and Scotland boast some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, like Snowdonia National Park and the Scottish Highlands - all within reach for a short break or a long holiday. We have some amazing types of home - lakeside cabins, 'glamping' in a state-of-the-art tent, shepherd's huts and treehouses, and even a converted lighthouse.
We encourage people to think about their holidays in a different way. Family bonding and couples holidays go hand in hand with cycling and walking, or just relaxing and taking in your surroundings. And spending time with family and loved ones without the hassle of traffic jams and flight delays is a 'no brainer'.
Here at carbonfreeholidays.com, we think it’s all about education - the more information and knowledge we can give to people, the more chance we have of them embracing change. Our message is clear: support UK tourism, reduce your carbon footprint, and have an amazing holiday."
