This is an easy stroll on tarmac roads, with no noticeable elevation. If undertaken in the afternoon, the trees at the sides of the roads shield the sun, and a slight sea breeze is common. From Gwyllt Road there are views across the Menai Straights to Beaumaris, Penmon Point, Puffin Island, Penmaenmawr mountain and the Great Orme.

I was hoping to find Hafod-y-Fedwen, which in 1969/70 was behind the dwelling on the right, just before old red telephone box on the left where the road bore right. A very dear friend used to live there. But there was no sign of either; after 40 years, the area seems to have been developed. Carry on past the entrances to a campsite and golf course, and you should see the Pen-y-Bryn pub on your left.

This is Welsh for 'top of hill". The pub wasn't open when I passed (Wednesday afternoon). Go downhill, cross the bridge, then turn left and follow the road back to the town centre.

The road opposite Station Road (Stryd y Gorsaf) is where my ex-workmate, Tracey Prytherch has a small shop, "Illusions", selling pet products, garden sundries, house and garden plants. It's been there for over 20 years. Bus and train stops close by; hope you enjoy it.
