Apedale is a little-known dale to the north of Wensleydale. It's a bit of a hike to get here, but well worth the effort. These hidden corners of the dales are a world away from the tourist honeypots. Quite a few buses stop at Aysgarth, but they do vary depending on the day and season. Check times back carefully before setting. Or even better, spend the night in Wensleydale and do a second walk the next day!

Long, Challenging And Beautiful

This walk turned out to be nearer 18 miles, we started about a mile from Aysgarth Falles and returned by the steppingstones over the Ure, just south of Castle Bolton.

The area around Apedale head is remote and it is necessary to navigate across open fell From the waypoint on East Bolton Moor.

There is a nice tea room at Bolton Castle.

The is a nice tea a
