Nine Standards Rigg is an iconic hilltop in this part of Cumbria. The summit can be an isolated spot in inclement weather and the surrounding moor can be very boggy. In wet conditions keep to the RoW's. The descent down Nateby Common is simple if you keep to the wall. The walk could easily start from the village itself. Kirkby Stephen is on the Leeds-Settle-Carlisle rail line. Bus 563 from Penrith
