For most people, the South Downs Way starts in Winchester and ends at Beachy Head. Why this way round? No idea, but this walk explores the 'start' of the route just outside Winchester. There are good bus services to Thornacre Farm, and plenty of connections in Winchester. This route is one of several put together by the South Downs NPA: http://bit.ly/2goc6SV
