A moderate walk (coast) starting and finishing in Essex, England, about 10.50km (6.52 mi) long with an estimated walking time of about 3:00h. It is suitable for prams & pushchairs, wheelchairs, but unsuitable for families with children.
This walk takes in some of the finest coastline in Essex - miles and miles of unspoilt sandy beaches. This family-friendly walk takes you past the colourful beach huts of Frinton and Walton, and finishes in the John Weston Nature Reserve.
When you reach the sea, you have two choices - you can walk along the cliff top, or take one of the paths down and follow the path in front of the beach huts.
The two towns run into each other - when you reach the pier you are at Walton. The station is just inland from here, but carry on along the seafront towards the Naze.
Just north of Walton is the John Weston Nature Reserve. Here you will find some stunning coastal scenery with 70 foot cliffs rich with fossils and a dense gorse and hawthorn scrub. It's also a great place to spot sea birds, and sand martins visit in summer.
