Stonehenge may get the coach parties, but for a more peaceful walk in one of Wiltshire's many prehistoric sites, take the bus to the village of Avebury. A stone circle spreads out in the countryside near the village, and exploring the whole ring makes for an enjoyable half day's walking.

If you missed it the first time, do visit the Alexander Keiller Museum. If my memory of childhood visits serves me well, there is a fossilised skeleton in there! And the good old National Trust reduce the ticket price if you came by bus. Which you did, of course!
