A leisurely walk (city/town) in Essex, England, about 3.90km (2.42 mi) long with an estimated walking time of about 1:00h. It is unsuitable for families with children, prams & pushchairs, wheelchairs.
A welcome return to nature in an increasingly busy town. Cymbeline Meadows is a small area of nature trails just near Colchester Station - well worth a visit before you head into the town.
The easiest way through the meadow is to stick to the River Colne, which weaves through it. Lots of wildlife here - keep your eyes for the interesting flowers underfoot.
At the end of the meadow, come out and carefully cross the busy road. Follow on the other side to Glen Avenue. Turn up hear, then first left and then right to Fitzwilliam Road.
At the far end of the nature reserve, rejoin the road and return to the main dual carriageway. Turn right, and at the roundabout turn left for the station or right for buses into Colchester town centre.
