This walk is an example of one of those joys of living in Britain - a great countryside walk just a few miles outside one of our biggest cities. Take the bus out to Pill, then follow the River Avon before heading through a gorgeous National Trust wood and then back into the city via the Clifton Suspension Bridge,

An engineering miracle by the dude with the funny name. Check out the information boards on the far side as well, which explains how old Kingdom replanted a lot of the flowers and shrubs he dug up while making the bridge, once he found out they were rare. So a conservationist, a top engineer and a funny name to boot. What a guy.

Finish up in Clifton, the posh bit of Bristol, where you can sip a low-fat soya lattachino and enjoy a slice of organic, fair trade lentil cake while waiting for your bus.
