A leisurely walk (low hills and fells (below 600m)) in Lancashire, England, about 8.50km (5.28 mi) long with an estimated walking time of about 3:15h. It is suitable for families with children, but unsuitable for prams & pushchairs, wheelchairs.
Pendle Hill instantly conjours images of witches, burnings and the like. The history can distract from what is a fine little hill walk, though, so read up before you go and then just enjoy the fine views from the top.
It's a popular hill so worth avoiding weekends if possible; early morning or dusk is the best time to appreciate the place. For more information on the region, visit: www.visitlancashire.com/explore/pendle-hill
Head across the top of the hill; the Pendle Way takes you quickly back down, but having made the climb, why not enjoy it? From this point, you can drop down to Clitheroe if you want a linear walk - buses connect Clitheroe with Barley Green - but in this case I suggest continuing south and winding your way back to Barley Green.
