Quite a bit of road walking along (usually) quiet lanes. One for historians - several (lovely) churches, a bell tower, a stone circle & a ruined castle en-route. Fantastic views east & west on the approach to Long Meg (if the visibility is good). 8.5 miles you could rush in 1/2 day but I'd recommend you take time to visit our heritage/history. Leeds-Settle-Carlisle railway line between stations.
