A leisurely walk (countryside) in Bradford, England, about 9.10km (5.65 mi) long with an estimated walking time of about 2:45h. It is suitable for families with children, but unsuitable for prams & pushchairs, wheelchairs.
A leisurely amble through woodland & farmland on 't'other side of the River Wharfe' from Ilkley. At Point 7 there is currently (Nov 2015) an interesting detour onto the site of the old Middleton (isolation) Hospital (soon to be redeveloped). Ilkley is on the Airedale railway line with services from Leeds & Bradford. Buses from all surrounding areas (see WYMETRO.COM). Route is approx 6 1/2 miles.
Take access on the right down to the river bank and follow it downstream, passing the sports fields to eventually reach a footbridge over the river. Don't cross, turn left into Middleton Woods.
The path follows the northern edge of the wood before veering left to rise briefly to reach a stile into an open field. Follow the path across the field to a stile to the right of a wide gate.
At the crossroads turn left & follow the road. Just after the next junction take a RoW path on the right across the centre of a field then cross 2 more fields with wall on right to reach woodland.
Cross the stile to enter the wood and follow the path to cross Bow Beck, shortly after which cross open field. Enter more woodland briefly before exiting to follow field perimeter on right.
Turn right and at the T-juction turn right again and at the first bend in the road turn right along a wayposted footpath across fields towards Beck Foot Farm.
Cross the lane and take the wayposted path across the northern perimeter of the first field, then diagonally left across the field to join the road which follows the river upstream to the footbridge.
