Ignore the footpath marked on the map; it's not possible to walk right along the River Deben in Suffolk. Natural erosion has worn away the path in many places. This route gives you a decent taste of this special estuarine habitat though, and it's easy to reach from Ipswich. Birdwatchers will enjoy the creek and river for their many avian species. If you are bringing the binoculars, expect to take longer than half a day.
