A leisurely walk (city/town) in Clwyd, Wales, about 4.50km (2.80 mi) long with an estimated walking time of about 1:45h. It is suitable for families with children, but unsuitable for prams & pushchairs, wheelchairs.
Pier, kiosks, amusements, bar and cafe at end, speedboat, pleasure boat and fishing trips from jetty to the right, Open-top city sightseeing buses to Deganwy and Conway every 30 mins, old-fashioned coach trips around Great Orme Marine Drive, novelty roadtrain rides to West Shore and return.
After leisurely stroll along pier and back, come off at 2nd entrance/exit, go straight ahead towards Grand Hotel, take 1st right, uphill to Happy Valley.
Old limestone quarry, landscaped by the Mostyn family and dedicated to Queen Victoria in 1890 with a comemerative drinking fountain containing a bust of the said Lady. Go ahead (steeply) following line of road to reach ski and snowboard centre.
Lodge, bar and cafe, dry ski slope, snowboarding and toboggan run. Turn left at lodge, downhill to traffic lights, turn right uphill, follow line of tramtrack to reach Bronze age copper mine.
Well worth a visit, introductory film show on history of mine, walk into mine shafts and caverns, visitor centre with mineral samples from all over the world (kids will love the bags of "Fools Gold"),and cafe. Carry on uphill by various pathways to reach summit complex.
Bar, cafe and visitor centre which is very educational, examples of wildlife, flora, camera links to cliffs to watch the seabirds, video of "The Great Orme Country Park" showing in little theatre can be bought in gift shop £5, I got one. I got the tram down, which very conviently stops outside the Kings Head Pub, Llandudno's Oldest, with great guest beers and a restaurant.
