This walk, a short bus ride from Ipswich, is an opportunity to see deer in a setting that feels quite different to much of Suffolk. Fallow and red deer herds wander about the large park, and the grounds are often deserted, giving you some peace and quiet to admire the animals.
Buses to Helmingham are not that regular - they leave Ipswich every three hours, three times a day - but the buses back are about 2.5 hours later, which is enough time to explore the park. The park is a joy all year round, and particularly captivating in winter.
